Double Virus
2004-in progress
Enlarged images of deadly microscopic viruses float across a sea of turquoise silk, hand embroidered in pastel colours. The selvage edges are machine embroidered with text easily recognizable as a computer virus. Periodically inserted within this viral text are the names of the embroidered viruses. As viruses are spread on the world wide web, so viruses invade our bodies, spread through travel, physical contact, sexual activity, food and especially water; pointing to the fact that clean water is a basic human right that is not accessible in poor zones of developed countries, as well as throughout under-developed countries.
